Consumers Say Genetics, Diet And Exercise Are The Real Keys To Youthful Skin

March 14, 2011: 04:00 AM EST
Consumers appear to be a lot more realistic about the aging process than skincare and other anti-aging product manufacturers give them credit for, according to market research from Mintel. Sixty-nine percent of consumers surveyed believe genetics is the most important factor in aging gracefully, while personal care products offer more hope than help. Eighty percent surveyed think diet and exercise are the most important factors associated with aging skin, but 78 percent say sunscreen is the real key to anti-aging. Still, Mintel found something of a gap between opinion and practice. Despite believing that genetics, diet and exercise are key to maintaining a youthful appearance as the years pass, 69 percent reported that the earlier one begins using age prevention remedies the better.
